You should accept them if they meet your screening criteria and make sure your pet policy and amount of occupants is clearly stated in your lease.

We started with no pets but ended up going with a couple with 2 small dogs.

It can't possibly be sanitary, or legal, to have a pet urinating indoors.

Their original lease says that no pets are allowed except the one 10lbs dog that they told us about before they moved in.
