My tenant has new cat that's not in the lease

Hey BP Community!

I have a rental in FL with a good tenant. Their original lease says that no pets are allowed except the one 10lbs dog that they told us about before they moved in. Both me and the tenants are part of the neighborhood facebook page and I see that they've posted about having a cat.

Has anyone dealt with something similar where a tenant gets new pets after moving when, even though the lease does not allow it. What did you do?

Thanks in advance!

Jim

Talk to them and remind them the cat is not part of the lease.  If you don't mind the cat, but need another pet deposit, then ask for that.  If you have a pet rent, then ask them to pay it for the cat.
