I have a tenant their rent is subsidized by the LINC program ( Living In Neighborhood Community), it's similar to Section 8, designed to help families in homeless shelters find housing.

I had to get a state approved lead based paint abatement contractor just to paint the steps.In a more extreme case, a LL in the town where we lived hired a homeless person to scrape the paint on the outside of a house.

So at this point we are homeless with all our belonging in storage, now the task of finding a hotel, that accepts dogs ( we have a small dog).

However you probably wouldn't get elected because everyone in Seattle has decided it's ok for homeless people to camp out wherever they want to and let's give the addicts a free place to go do their drugs.The banks are not releasing all these condemned homes in Tacoma and personally that drives me crazy.I have no issues with annual property inspections and actually think it's a great idea, even though it's caused me a lot of work (I came from Sacramento market where they are required).

Walk over and talk to them say " Hey guys I have a problem , I have a group that wants to rent the house and use it as a homeless shelter / halfway house for men getting out of prison , they offered to pay me double my rent , I am torn with this choice or renting it out as a regular house , I checked with the city and its ok with them .

I'm somewhat against both of these ideas because its and established neighborhood of $115-$135k houses and I'm not sure I'd be able to make much of a profit on these.My last idea would be to try and find some sort of grant to build long term housing to build 2 houses that meet the specific needs of either individuals with special needs or perhaps disabled or homeless vets?

You might want ask around your area about the VA's Supportive Housing program.In a nutshell, it's intended to provide housing for homeless veterans either near where they receive treatment for injuries and psych. issues or near public transit which can help them get to their treatment facilities.
