We bought the house a year and a half ago and have faced multiple significant barriers to get architect plans approved and financing in place. 

I didn’t even have a vision to describe to an architect.

Architect(seems very expensive) or architectural designer will be enough?

At the same time you can go to the local building departments and find the plans for the projects and get the GC info from that as well as the architect.

Would you have any recommendations on an architect?
