Huh.When I called to get an average of utilities from the energy company (WE Energies - Wisconsin) I found out that the average heat/ electric for the lower was double that of the upper - the lower had an older woman, the upper a family.

The fact he is elderly and looking to get out of the business has me thinking i need to really work this.Send was a woman who was looking to sell since her husband just got out of the hospital and she doesn't want to have to manage the property.

My first properties were 2 hours north of where I lived and one was left gutted and had to be put back together.But being involved in this level does give you some benefits:a) Appreciation for what it takes to get the work done, so that you appreciate the skills your contractors need to haveb) Basic understanding of what needs to be done, so that if you are getting bids, you can talk intelligently to a contractor (I find this to be extremely helpful as a woman as contractors will talk down to you)c) Idea of what time frame you are looking at for completion of work and in what order things have to be doneBut it's also a good idea to start distancing yourself from this.

So for however long your money is being held, you'll generally earn about 1.5% interest/month ... much better than the banks.So: understand your money will be tied up for as long as 6 months before you own anything; the homeowner might pay the taxes and keep the property; and that the homeowner might still occupy the property at the end of the 6 months (I went to an auction once where a 93-year-old woman owned the property being auctioned).Still, it can be a great way to buy property for cheap.

All of that aside it would take a pretty compelling reason for me to evict a 90 year old woman out of a house that I bought, especially if it had been her home for a long time.
