The cry is about "Silicon-Valley"? 

I had to call the cops on her, too, to explain how she could be the next family member to go to prison.And this building was in a high-end area of Silicon Valley. 

Right in the heart of Silicon Valley. 

In those places, it tends to make more financial sense to move into heavily shared housing, endure discomfort, and pay the minimum possible rent while saving up your money for your investments, especially if you find a way to live very near where you work in order to be able to minimize or eliminate transportation expenses, the second-largest expense of the American household.And then, there are most places, places not like the extremes in housing-cost cases that Steel Valley in Pennsylvania or Silicon Valley in California represent.

The units I managed in Silicon Valley were not separately metered.  

Just be consistent, and if you have to deny anyone who may be a protected class, just be sure and document it.I managed a building in Silicon Valley, where there is a ton of money for fair housing testers.  

I just learned this for where I now live as a low income senior with Section 8 in Silicon Valley.So, you may not get the rent you think you'll get.Then, only you can really answer the question about whether or not you want to rent to people who may be drug dealers with guns who might kill people (per your own description).I would not want to do that.  

But, it doesn't look like that's a tenant pool for you in your town, unfortunately.Another thought is that if I was to buy a rental property now, knowing what I do, I'd buy one with tiny studio apartments - whether your tenants are students or not.The building I managed in Silicon Valley, CA, was next to a private university that also had a law school.  

Screen well, be really picky, have tough criteria, and you're good to go.Students will be a PITA - I rented to students for many years in Silicon Valley.  

She could end up bailing in the middle of the holidays.The owner I worked for in Silicon Valley wanted to keep nice, easy tenants like yours and would keep their rent under market by a bit.
