Several reasons: older homes usualy have single pane windows, masonite for wall board instead of plasterboard, flimsier doors and cabinets etc.We then fix up then rent to own and seller finance.

I know I'm going to have to open the walls the replace the wiring and plumbing...might as well add HVAC while the walls are open...be stupid not to do insulation at that time as well...and since I need windows reframed and replaced seems silly not to invest in double pane for the weather if I'm doing HVAC and insulation.
