There are two possibilities going on here and you didn't specify which one you're dealing with. 1: they work with a company that installs the panels, gives them free solar energy, and then sells the excess.

An alternative is either changing your acquisitions strategy (self sourcing deals if you have the time/money/energy), or pursuing a different type of asset if you want.

So, I guess my point is, don't try to find a magic bullet out there to pull the trigger on an STR investment.

It's not just about net energy cost savings, although that's the easiest to measure.
