If I were to purchase this boarded up row house, what are some steps i can take to prevent vandalism and theft (ie copper)? 

Just drive down the 1800 block and you can see why, lots of board ups still there.

I've been to the courthouse and learned to read the foreclosure board ( SP and M are different I understand) and talked with the super nice people in the clerks office.
