They will pull metal plumbing out of the house, snapping the pipe where it happens to snap, but often cracking it elsewhere.The main water and sewer lines may or may not be there or working.The houses are often not winterized, or are winterized after they sat through a winter so plumbing can be a mess.The homeless squatters do leave their bedbugs, roaches and drug needles, baggies.If they are active in the area, they will return for the 'stuff'.

We end up donating a lot of things to charities that provide shelter for homeless people or transition programs for people moving from a shelter to their own place.

Walk over and talk to them say " Hey guys I have a problem , I have a group that wants to rent the house and use it as a homeless shelter / halfway house for  men getting out of prison , they offered to pay me double my rent , I am torn with this choice or renting it out as a regular house , I checked with the city and its ok with them .

I had to get a state approved lead based paint abatement contractor just to paint the steps.In a more extreme case, a LL in the town where we lived hired a homeless person to scrape the paint on the outside of a house.
