Or would paying an inspector to walkthrough it with me be better? 

The inspector calls out the safety risk, but we have no idea who we should contact to fix it(we want to keep the trees if possible)?

There is variation in the quality and consistency of inspectors, as with any large operation.

HI fellow BP members, I'm looking for recommendations for a trustworthy and experienced home inspector in the Sacramento/Elk Grove area. 

Of course use an experienced inspector with that as a way to delete your contract.
