Sometimes it will be all you have in the face of things as cruel as finding out that they left their animals behind without food or water when they skipped out, or as malicious as lying about you to everyone in the neighborhood for months, or as painful as discovering that yes, you do need to spring for four thousand bucks of unexpected expenses in January to change out the furnace that went bad at just exactly the wrong time.

These questionable assignments have been used by bad actors like Ocwen to wrongfully foreclose on naive homeowners. 

Insurance required Borrower must provide a minimum 6-month insurance policy to be paid in full on or before closing The amount of insurance coverage may not be less than the loan amount and must include vacancy, vandalism and malicious mischief The insurance policy on the property needs to name Investmark Mortgage as the beneficiary.

They don't do it maliciously...it's just that our laws are very different and are some of the toughest in the country. 

Do nothing and continue living the way they are, 99% of ghosts are non-malicient and will do them no harm2.

The first I heard about all these late fees building up was May 2018.It is entirely possible that my PM was not malicious - just lazy and unethical.

Be swift to fix their deficiency through proper legal action and either they get current and clean up their act, or they don't and they be come their Command/Installation's problem before it gets too far out of hand.

You will likely need documentation from the Attorney General or equivalent of your country confirming you're not a bad actor with felonies, etc, back home.
