Tape down a few 1 foot squares of clear plastic and leave for a day or two. 

I asked around and a couple of guys who should know said plastic in the crawlspace might help.

We had supplied thick plastic sheeting etc etc but it happens & they paid for the replacement.

Use those "nail with a U-shaped plastic clip on it" things to keep the cable off the ground. 

For example, one reason I like to do tile in the bathroom as that I believe it will look better for a lot longer than the plastic surrounds, _and_ get better rent, _and_ make it easier to rent for not much more money.

Further separation with the double drywall (you can actually run one of the layers as sound insulating drywall if you like) and the green glue should fix up most everything except noise transfer through things like copper plumbing (water hammer) plastic plumbing drains, or hallway recirculating ductwork.It’s a wood framed building, probably built to minimum code at the time.

Don't buy the cheap plastic utensils from dollar tree that nobody wants to use, but also don't buy the $40-50 copper pancake turner from William Sonoma.
