I'm putting together my plans in my head to hit the ground running when I get back from the desert.

@Todd Tyler I am an agent that works out of Palm Desert and have been searching for a duplex myself over the past few months.

If the property were in decent shape (which it's not--I haven't been inside yet but it's a desert property that's been unoccupied for years, with dead landscaping, bad paint, probably in need of at least $30,000 of 'lipstick') it  probably would have MV of about $330,000-340,000.    

People often don't realize how easily sound carries in the desert, and one inconsiderate person can destroy the peace and quiet for everyone within several miles. 

Hey guys - I have an opportunity to purchase a fun little tiny house and finish it to use a as a little Airbnb rental with thoughts of landing in the Mojave Desert area of Southern California??? 

., those that are not plots of land in the desert covered in snakes and weeks) going for near market prices?

However from my experience at the community I manage, this summer has been extremely busy and I've been told by several prospects that they can't find an apartment anywhere in Palm Desert (which is specifically where I live and work).

Do I need to invest in desert properties like I see so many do or can I work the same system ( a few hundred to thousand for small 1-5 acre parcels) in areas like Central MN and Northern WI within lake country? 

And your generally dealing with a home that is 20 years old or less.. stucco  tile roof  newer components etc no freeze thaw issues.. easy desert landscaping. 

I mean who the heck would want to live in the desert, right?
