Just because you are use to having to bump the stove to get it to turn on and you know there is that nail sticking out of the wall at the top of the stairs doesn't mean this is tenant ready.

This is my Dad helping...Once we had the plywood floor base down, we then laid the cement backerboard overtop to tile.

I just can't find anyone reliable to do areas that are not plowable... e.g. sidewalks, pathways, and stairs.

We looked at a foreclosure and next door they were building a duplex ranch for older people as the area is thick with older adults wanting to downsize or get out of houses with stairs.

I would not use plywood on stairs, I'd use lumber, screwed and glued. :)

The layouts tend to be awful, the stairs dangerous, and the unknown simply too big a risk for my liking.I went through one built in the early 1900's a few weeks ago and the thing was incredible.

Keep in mind, that in order to climb the flight of stairs, it takes one step at a time to reach to the top.
