So you might find it tough to gain traction in investing with what you have to deal with in overcoming her objections. 

With only a $1000 to spend I don't think you would get enough traction to start in the DC and surrounding areas.

Alternatively, you could probably get sand from a local gardening place and use that to provide traction on walkways and drives {it will be friendlier to your garden than salt as well}.

there is one who did a pod cast on BP and has gotten a lot of traction.. not that they are or are not scam artist but they are recommending buying 30 to 40k turn keys IE homes that all in cost 30 to 40k.. and we all know that pretty much in ANY major metro those are squarely in the hood.. war zones etc etc.. lots of hearts are going to be broken with that company in Indy... it will take some time but it will happen

Pete, we are having a similar situation in Lex County, with a duplex that rented fairly quickly back in March, but this unit came open in July and hasn’t had much traction from qualified applicants.

Where they had properties under contract but not gained a lot of traction on wholesaling them and finding cash buyers.

You may be incredibly successful at it--or you may hate it or never be able to get traction without a large income.

It can take a bit to gain traction but once you do it can take off on you so fast you need it to slow down.

Google Fiber was one of the reasons I was attracted to the area, but I hadn't looked into how much traction there is already with the developer community -- really appreciate the insights!
