@Adam Craig paint everything that is white with a slight lighter that charcoal grey.

You should also make sure that charcoal grill never gets used on the deck:)

I let them have a grill and they dump charcoal in the parking lot.  

It's there the same reason I don't allow certain breeds of dogs, smoking, or charcoal grills on the porch.

Make sure you don't have a dead mouse in the unit somewhere....could take it outside and power wash it and bleach it....could try a couple bags of charcoal....use the coal for a barbeque if it doesnt work.

If you are repainting anyway, I have always like charcoal gray with red brick and your brick looks to have some gray.

Does it depends on whether it's charcoal or gas? 

The replacement is a charcoal black architectural shingle, with no changes to the structure.

I use the metro charcoal, a shade lighter.  

Directly across from the women's apartment the guys moved several of the gas and charcoal grills, they set up a dozen lawn chairs, a couple of tables, and they keep 2 or 3 coolers stocked with beer.
