Ben Leybovich Should Newbies Have Access to Calculators?

You can use the bits and pieces of information that matter most to you and put together a nice spreadsheet that reflects your knowledge...and as your knowledge increases, build onto it accordingly. There are even plenty of free Apps out there that are simply to use BUT you still have to understand what to put in to them, why you are filling in that field and then be able to decipher the results it kicks out to you.I believe that's the point here...there is a time and place for "tools" to enter into the picture, but to use such tools without the knowledge behind you can result in false hope and potential unwanted consequences.Leaving all Bias and Prejudice aside, I trust everyone could agree that learning how to use something first is better than winging it just because it's there to have...no?

typically when the price is lower then 10k your simply talking about the value of the land because the house is either nearly beyond repair and/or in a very unwanted area or condemned by the city etc.., its not a dollar amount issue, it costs the seller allot more to hold the property/risk associated then the value. you could probably offer a box of chickens and close on the house (seller would probably get the better deal in that situation). lots of houses in my area and many others sell for less then $10k. havent seen one that I would touch  with a 10' stick even if they were free, similar to Detroit, a free house isnt free. in most cases it would be cheaper to buy a 30k house then it would be to buy a 1k house if that makes any sense.
