My topic was removed.... why?

Good evening all BP'ers!

Just as suspected with these types of forums..... the topic I posted earlier today was removed!   .... Why?

Truth be told... I'm not surprised one bit. Post any controversial subjects that may or may not engage a (possibly) heated discussion.... and oh my god! The censor nanny's come out running to save you all from "thinking bad things" from people who encourage  and engage your imagination and free thinking.... niiice.

I can't wait to see what sort of comments are going to show on this thread or maybe..... it will get removed too! Ha!

I posted a simple question as to the solution on "what to do with vacant properties" and absentee owners and how to get "legal possession."

Where did it go?  It was a simple "just askin" for feedback question.... that's it!

Not normally a topic category that would interest me however, I couldn't help to see the irony of a guy from Dallas, TX posting what sounds like conspirator theorist remarks (think JFK).

In any event, if you're fairly new to BP and there's a lot to discover here, rules aside. If you're trying to gather information, feedback, opinions, etc. just put it out there. Leave reference to commercial venture out of your post.

And, since you're trying to pitch a discussion, it ought to be relevant to readers and compel them to chime in. Also, I'd be clear if you're looking for opinions or people with experience in a topic. No shortage of opinions here.

I once posted on the the topic of missing owner, vacant and abandoned "orphan" houses with the expectation that a vigorous discussion about adverse possession would ensue, a topic for which I have a high level of experience.  Surprisingly (at least to me), the thread fell flat and had one response. Perhaps I posted it in the wrong place, maybe the heading wasn't intriguing enough, however I learned that not few seem to be interested in that topic.

Good luck. Keep on posting.  Don't take this place too seriously. Remember that a basic rule of etiquette is never use your host's bathroom without burning a match!

@Angel Gutierrez the post was removed because you were doing market research for potentially developing a course on the topic you were asking about.  We do allow that, but it requires posting in the Marketplace which requires a Pro or Plus account.

When we remove a post we send the member a message letting them know why the post was removed and what they can do if they want their post to be seen.  There can sometimes be a delay between when we remove a post and when we send the message.  This was the case for your post.

I'm a moderator, but I didn't see your original post.  That said, based on your description of your original post, it sounds like you were soliciting information that you would be hoping to use to create/market/sell a commercial product.

While this is certainly within the rules on BP, it requires posting in the "Marketplace" forum, and posting in that forum requires a Pro membership.

I'm guessing that the moderator who removed your post sent you a PM...you should check your messages to see.

@Angel Gutierrez  it looks as though it was removed for advertising. As others have said you have to do that in the marketplace which requires a paid account.

From this post, it sounds as if your previous post (which I did not see) may have sounded like a guru selling books/tapes/courses.  If you are going to advertise on BP, you have to pay for the privilege.

And a thinly veiled "wondering if you would be interested in buying my book" post isn't going to cut it.  Why don't you just email or PM the moderators and ask them?

Our existing legal structure is based on British Commonlaw. That's why it's as ridiculous and messed up as it is! With that said ...

What's my angle you ask?  Ok..  Here it goes...

I know how to acquire property that sits vacant and unused and unwanted by it's owner and creditor on file. It doesn't cost you fortunes untold to do so. We simply use the existing legal channels to give us the end result.... true and "legal possession..... NOW."     Not in 2 or 5 or 10 years. Nope.

And my question is.... what sort of interest might you(or anybody else) as a real estate investor have in such knowledge? Would you be willing to pay real money to learn how?

My wife wants me to write another book and truth be told.... I'm not crazy about the idea. The first time was bad enough!  But if it's a profitable venture... then why not?  But if it's not.... I have plenty of other things to keep me busy right now.

That's it.... that's my angle...

If it was promoting a product or service then it likely was considered marketing resulting in it being removed. There's a marketing section which requires payment to post. Usually one or two mods will pm you to explain reasons for remove of your post or message. When I first joined BP I was pm'd a ton, believe it! I'm not a rule reader, more of going with the flow type. You'll learn as I did....or not.
