Yet drive 5 minutes and there are actual cows and actual fields, several natural springs, nature preserves..... it's night and day from downtown Orlando 25 minutes away.The wekiva parkway toll project http://www.wekivaparkway.com/ has brought Orlando Toll Road access to Apopka and Mount Dora making commuting easier than from more gridlocked cities closer to Orlando.

For the back of a property or a particularly dark corner, I get simple, flood light type security lights with 2 huge bulbs and get them mounted up as high as possible (otherwise it's easy to break a bulb with a rock).

A lot of the housing stock here, even in the neighborhoods that you mentioned is at best 60-70 years old and worst 90-110 - there are going to be warts with alot of properties and those without, you are going to pay a premium for.That being said the areas you mentioned are certainly more stable and reliable than the New Kensington, New Castle, Beaver, Mount Oliver, (insert Eastern neighborhood here) where you can find houses for under $20,000But as @Andy Madden mentioned, anything is possible with the right networking and finding value-adds offmarket.good luck!

I'm going back this week on this one as the costs are really mounting up.Most of the issues are either roof or foundation that have been killing the deals.
