How can you be involved from a distance and monitor your investment??

If the building is secured (ie front door locked), then install cameras to monitor the area where packages are left. 

@Stephen Torti, sounds like you are describing expense ratio, which is a very common metric monitored.  

I understand I can offload the majority (if not all) of the monitoring to my PM since it'd be in their best interest as well to make sure everything goes smooth and the property has a tenant as soon as possible.

I don't want my tenants to feel they need to hide things from me, and would prefer to know so that I can monitor the situation.  

We'd love to have any other Texans monitor and be involved there. 

Make a habit of monitoring FB Marketplace and Craigslist and pay attention to local listings in the area that go quickly.

Creating and updating your listing, monitoring your bookings, scheduling cleaners, resupplying toilet paper/soap/paper towels/etc.  

Camera sounds like only reliable way to monitor this or just bump everyone's rent a couple dollars to cover it and don't police it.
