I have replaced submersible well pumps, added a drain to a pool by digging a cave to the bottom, built a studio apartment with full bath and kitchen under my stilt home through the concrete slab, wired it entirely and plumbed it, framed it, replaced an entire attic worth of ducting, removed a dock out of the gulf, cleared a full 1/2 acre lot with my truck, a 3 ton chain, and a chainsaw, then sodded it myself.

At this point, its below the top edge of the base, so it drops though the mortar to the base and from their into the drain.If doing a tile base, the schulter drain works well.

jon is right...the min measurements are for a fireman to be able to enter and exit. when you cut the concrete, you have to use a lentil or a header on top. also, tie the storm drain pipe to the weeping tile around the house. then fill with 3/4" gravel. bolt the well to the house with anchors. fiberglass wells or galvanized are the two options. then needs a cover.i quoted it for my house... it would cost between $1500 and $3500, depending on the style/size, etc..
