For a season people in our career field made tens of thousands in re-enlistment bonuses, with half in a lump sum and the other half spread over the enlistment period. 

There's a service commitment, enlisted basic training & if you want to be an officer there's officer training.  

I would enlist the services of a foundation contractor or structural engineer if you are really unsure.

Hey everyone, my name is Daniel Wolcott and currently enlisted in the Air Force stationed in Colorado Springs.

Biggest reason is switching from an enlisted career to the officer corps.

I have about 3 years left on my enlistment and I don't want to start investing in my current area because I don't plan on staying here when I get out and will be returning home to the Chicagoland area. 

As a Navy Senior Enlisted Leader, I'm now very interested in this issue.

A lot of senior folks are there for only a year at a time, since it has a school for both senior enlisted and LtCol/Colonels.

Might be a good idea to enlist a realtor in the area to help gather some of the info.

Unfortunately we were planning on doing all of this in July but his current contract is up in mid-April 2017 and we haven't made any decisions whether he will re-enlist, extend, or separate.
