Sometimes it is the squatter who fakes the whole lease situation and other times it is someone posing as a Property Manager who takes the "tenant's" security deposit and rent under a scam. 

Do not be fooled by these scams!

Anyone asking for money upfront is a scam.  

I know there is quicken but I never had a good experience with those sites, aside from getting a lot of scam calls and emails.

@Deangelo Mack this is a common scam in the rental business.

Once your tenant is selected there is very little time to devote to your investment, other then respond to maintenance items.  

At the moment I'm working on a new-built project (a largish urban apartment building) that has small units but devotes significant valuable space to indoor and outdoor common areas. 

We’ve already fallen for all the other scams & we’re tired of it!

I am wondering whether this lender is a scam.

Is this some type of scam or maybe they found the wrong property (the property next door recently sold on auction).i received the letter in my FL “rental” property but the letter never actually listed which property was supposed to be in foreclosure. has anyone received such type letters?
