I actually still have to complete an official walk-through with a contractor and based the estimates on a complete remodel being done - as there is foundation damage and the roof has not been done since the house was purchased in 30yrs ago.

I have a stone/ masonry foundation. 

I wouldn't even look at an offer for that house unless it came with at least a $10,000 earnest money deposit and proof of funds attached.I recommend you build a strong foundational understanding of real estate investing.1.

I hired a general contractor to do a foundation replacement and several other smaller jobs on my house.

I think if you are starting out and only have a direction you want to go vs a foundation of success and failures to build from a mentor is worth a lot more money. 

You really just need to know about the big items (foundation, roof, hvac, plumbing, electrical...that stuff).

At any rate, I am here to increase my knowledge of real estate investing and become an active partner in a foundation my wife has already built. 

Hi Charles, just curious, would your recommendation for an experienced investor of Single Family moving into Multi Family as an eventual Syndicator be to become a Personal Student to start with or a Foundations?
