These don't have to be very fancy, simple framed out units with fencing on all sides (including the ceiling) can rent well. 

I got nailed on it in Oregon that's why I know about this in Oregon... got a cease and desist and a small fine .. and not fun getting dressed down by the regulator.. someone turned me in..

If you feel you need to do something curbside to draw attention to the house then create a second pathway to the mailbox (and a really nice / cute mailbox) or dress up that wishing well - but don't kill the trees.

I get that there are a bunch of fancy things to do in RE but I find the idea of property management “fun”.
