Background: I'm live in south Mississippi and have been doing real estate deals for about 13 years(rentals, STR, fix and flip...).

Adding and making better could sell or rent faster, but it won't get you more than what the market ARV and rent is set at from other similar comps in the area....and your Interior Design background will help, if you you it mostly as an understanding of cost. 

I wouldn't buy a business for example if you don't have the background for it.

Coming from a health care background and Not having any previous experience in Real Estate or sales, I am having trouble getting the Bio started.  

Can anyone recommend a firm that does not use Lexis Nexis for background checks?

If you have a building background, I would work with an architect and build some unique places that are stick built to hold the equity value better.

I will probably do lots of rehab myself because of my background and then scale up as I am more able to afford qualified contractors.

With your renovation background, you're well-positioned to excel in house flipping.
