However the main reason for restricting is NIMBY    Many RI areas have a long history of short term rentals (mostly beach) and there is an ongoing tension around it, however I hope the state as a whole isn't stupid enough to jeopardize that economic engine. 

I have no interest in these properties only because of family tension it would cause.  

But, the biggest problem is waterfall deals create tension between investor and syndicator.   

But as good as he is, there is always tension during the transaction because of my demanding nature.

No need to have that resistance or tension this way

It reminds me of the book Never Split the Difference, often times when we label the fear or emotion it tends to ease up the tension and release us from our fears or nervousness!

On the other if things go bad it could create some tension in the family.What if you trained them on how to manage them properly instead of taking over? 

I want to be respectful of local custom and not create tension with an otherwise responsive agent, yet it's personally maddening as I recently found out 3 days after a verbal offer was sent that was already under contract that same day my offer was communicated, yet that was never communicated to me for 3 days and only after I insisted my agent inquire on status.

I also plan on occupying one of the units which may cause tension with tenants if they fear having to move out.
