This will give me 2 months to upgrade the unit in which I reside (paint, new carpet or floors, new kitchen cabinet, and furnish), then enter the newly vacant unit, and host the upgraded unit. 

I can write off a ton of it because of the costs of maintaining the house, furnishing it, cleaning fees, etc. etc., whatever's left over I *believe* gets taxed as ordinary income.

Andrew Major - Why not buy a too big house, rent your spare cheaply furnished bedrooms by the bedroom on a 6-12 mo lease, rent out your room during your deployment and watch the cash flow in?

I would target the $75/night price if you furnish it nicely and it has its own private bath.

--Utilities, guest communication, cleaning, furnishing, stocking staples, quality control as a start, there's a lot!

The renter gets a furnished home and we get high rental rate paid by their insurance company.
