My lease states that I can file a landlord tenant complaint without providing notice to quit - if the tenant vacated the property but left me with a squatter (ex boyfriend) that won't leave the unit - would the clause i have in the lease still follow along the same lines for this squatter?

Just filing may well be enough to get an offer and with very little cost or effort.

If they don't vacate according to the lease term, eviction will need to be filed.

Sounds like you are just now filing your 2022 taxes.

You can still file suit but you still may owe the debt collections company their fee.
