Rentals have become a real mess in KCMO, there are now three different city departments with their hands in it and they don't interact or cooperate with each other, so yes, you literally have to register rentals with multiple departments, and each have their own (sometimes conflicting) rules.

You can also interact when the comment comes up "We had 218 maintenance requests last year and our landlord was so bad he only fixed like 35 of them, you aren't like that are you?"

I will look into going to local meetups however and hope for some valuable interactions with people in my market!

As your interactions with each operator increases you will probably start to get a better feel for one over the rest.

I too am on the road to obtaining my license this year, and interacting through BP/meeting local investors helped provide information on numerous brokerages.

There is always something to learn in each interaction and you have been kind enough (and only person) to invest your time on a stranger!
