The assembly version , has a yearly "fee" , a mandatory registry, inspection mandates, a water tax(for cape cod) and, most ominously, a graduated tax rate applied to owners of multiple properties.Like your area, Cape Cod ,has been a thriving short term rental market long before the internet was a thing.

I have purchased properties over the internet, completely sight unseen.

@Jay Hinrichs Thanks for your offline back and forth on this topic... you rock sir. your welcome this scam has been going on for years and years.. its just more prevalent now with the faceless interaction we get on the internet and e mails.. enabling folks to get scammed much eaiser..

From that point I got interested and curious and started reading everything I could on the internet about Real Estate!

I have called around to a bunch of local CPA's I have found on the internet and tried to find someone who can give me the advice I need to maximize my profits and everyone I 've talked to has basically just told me to call them when it comes time to file my taxes for 2018. 

The same philosophy is apparently being applied to real estate but the internet and real estate are not remotely comparable.

(Again almost certainly as described, but we are interpreting over the internet so I am adding this consideration).If this is as described, I think it may be worth considering pursuing this to the fullest extent of the law both criminally and civilly (civil side with a good attorney on contingency). 

Does the association provide water, electricity, high speed internet, cable, etc?
