As a full-time agent/budding investor, I regularly work with buyers of STRs on Mount Desert Island and the Acadia region, and all the news has been mostly good regarding rates and occupancy levels for this summer and fall.

I would prefer to build a fourplex but if it's more difficult to qualify for a loan because it's more risky, then I won't mind building just a duplex to start building more credibility with my lenders.So far I have only asked Bank of America and Desert Schools Credit Union and none of them offer constructions loans any more.

David, There is never a free lunch, but there are things one can do to ensure the taxman doesn't order desert.

I ate the best pizza in South Africa, I got mugged in Cuba and then got my money back when I mugged my mugger, I got lost in the Sahara desert, I used the toilet in Ghandi’s child hood home, I met a girl in the Czech Republic and then another one in Thailand and then Spain, I ate amazing beef in Argentina, I partied with Russians in Moscow’s until sunrise, played soccer in Ghana and Turkey and Brazil, I saw the most amazing sunrise in Vietnam, I had Guinness in Ireland which taste better than anywhere in the world, I met my wife in Ecuador, I met incredible people everywhere and so on and so on and so on.

constrained by access to major metro areas and No interstate.limited Jet service and still a very small community ..Great little spot though for those that like the 4 seasons and high desert type things.you did VERY good buying when you did.. as I am sure those properties long term will out perform most anything save the best CA or CO locations..

In my area out in the desert with minimal greenery and dubious water sources, the area has become a mini tech center. 

We're looking in the city of Riverside, Redlands, Loma Linda, and the desert for short-term rentals (Palm Springs, 29 Palms, etc).
