Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals who are likely only a few steps ahead of you in the game will be invaluable for both you mindset (staying motivated, others holding you accountable for your goals) and tactical/strategic advice ( where to invest, how get creative with finding properties, financing them, etc).

My plan is to look for a single family home but if I can find a multi family property to have more than one unit and it fits my budget I will defiantly go for that as well.The location I am looking at is San Diego and/or the surrounding area.
