Another avenue for growing a portfolio organically would be to move into an owner-occupied house with an eye that this would soon be a rental.

As someone who is just learning and does not have skin in the game yet, I would like to volunteer, and provide any help in organizing a meetup if you guys are interested.

@Jordan Moorhead - the AirBnB angle is a good idea- could increase the monthly income above what I had in my calculations.And I'd just add that - yes I'm sure a better property in terms of the numbers is out there "somewhere", but the rub with the 'house-hack', is that you also have to want to live there.

Elise, I actually found what you are talking about, that is a new law this year, i have not been charged this. my PM belongs to all kinds of organizations and would have known about this, but has not said anything. i am going to have to send this to her and my accountant to find out about it.

CAREIA is a non-profit organization in the suburbs, but they have a lot events: Meeting with speaker, Networking, and Cashflow game.
