I wouldn't assume that women in dual REI power couples aren't far more financially, and otherwise independent, than what you find in typical/average marriages.

I think I will fall way short of that but I have things (marriage, kids, coaching wrestling) that have come up in life that have made me redirect my focus.

It's never the sort of thing where you have an utterly clear villain and an utterly clear victim -- it's the mechanisms of society that batter these people helplessly.The addicted, abusive husband who can't help himself from still wanting to see his kids and try to fix his marriage, but also can't fight his raging addictions without help he can't get from a system that just wants to process him as cheaply as possible.

Eventually I will probably have to because the marriage is falling apart and there is no way he can stay in a 4bdrm house.

If you are passionate about something marriage, job, business, investing then the passion can carry you through the tough times to the other side when things get better again.So before investors just start buying stuff to get going really spend more time thinking about the life you want for yourself and your family and make sure the spouse has the same vision.

My future wife would own the new house and if, God forbid, something happened to either one of us (she could will it to her kids) or if, God forbid, the marriage didn't last (she could include that in a prenup).Quite frankly, it's all a bit confusing & stressful to figure out because I was married for 38 years to the same woman, thought I knew what my future plans were, thought my late wife & I were going to sell our house to my daughter (before prices skyrocketed) & we were going to get a Patio home. 

Assets that you owned before the marriage remain yours. 

Some companies sub out the leasing to an agent who kills deals because they treat the application like a loan and they ask for marriage licenses and car registrations.  

In my case if I had kept every property I ever purchased my second marriage would be over for a start through stress!

The lender is better off getting to know the borrower through "dating before marriage" where the 12 months or more of renting is the dating phase.
