Richard McGaughey House Hacking in South Shore Mass
3 October 2019 | 6 replies
Mass Housing and conventional loans will look to be sure that all the systems are working - plumbing, septic, electrical, HVAC.Where much of the MFR housing in these areas was built in the 1800s to mid-1900s, there's a very good chance that there's knob and tube wiring to replace, fieldstone foundations with failed pointing (superhighway for water and vermin), decrepit plumbing and cedar post supports (shrinking very slowly over time, causing floors to be out of level). These are all points for negotiating a price downward, but given the very low inventory, you're probably going to be up against cash buyers who will simply accept those defects and fix them later.Good luck!
