Smart locks, Outdoor security cameras, outdoor noise aware tech, wifi thermostats, backup combo lock hard keys, are some of the must haves for your properties. 

Smart locks, cameras, smart thermostats, automated calendar syncing, smart pricing, etc. self management is very doable and much more profitable

In my properties we use keyless door systems by RemoteLock which connect to the wifi, as well as Honeywell wifi thermostats.

But if you're househacking, you have to enjoy where you are living.Another point on house hack and quality of living is if you're buying a SF home and planning on renting out the rooms, consider that you are not getting tenants, but roommates. that means sharing the fridge, the thermostat, daily routines, etc.

Plus I use a Emerson Sensi thermostat.

WIFI was justified by WIFI thermostats, water monitors etc.

I got all the tools that I can think of to make this a successful venture: I got the smart locks, keypad, door bell cam, outdoor cam, noise sensor, PMS, Dynamic Pricing tool, scheduling app for cleaners, smart thermostat, etc.

My personal one I recently purchased had fourteen thermostats and three different heating sources (electric baseboard, kerosene, and propane) for a single unit!
