The house has really great potential, but two major drawbacks with the house is there is no garage/driveway forcing you to park on the street, and there is about 20 steps you need to climb to get to the front door as the house is situated on a hill.

I was listening to this BP podcast episode tonite, and the guest says he rents heavily to this type of tenant, and rarely has one stay for less than 2 years, since it's so hard for them to find a replacement Section 8 living situation.I agree that the financing seems to be the other big drawback to this deal.

The main drawback in these is if you decide to move out, you technically can't rent out both units since you no longer live there.

The draw back to these loans is that they are more paperwork heavy than the other "portfolio" types of loans....but if you have ever received a loan on your primary home, it's likely that you will go through the same type of paperwork here with conventional lending.
