If you want to use the VA loan, I would just go ahead and do it in your personal name and just make sure you have a good insurance policy (the first line of defense). 

However, you may need to take that personal loan out 2-3 months ahead of time so that the loan money is received and in an account and seasoned.

The two sub contractors we are working with said they wouldn’t bother with permits because it will make it very difficult to get finished.We aren’t in a huge rush, but also don’t want to bring the government into this and they shut the entire thing down for one reason or another.
