As a recent college engineering grad who formerly had only been exposed to the typical American life (piling on as much debt as possible in hopes of keeping up with the Joneses), you guys have really got the gears turning in my head and have opened a new way of thinking for me.After recently obtaining a good paying job, I almost made the mistake of buying a new truck and taking on some of the other bad debt that comes with most college grads; instead, I have chosen to put my eggs in the real estate basket.

The reason I have chosen to start with 2-4 units is because they qualify for FHA loans and I do want to house hack through this process as well so I would be living in a unit for at least a year (meeting the limitations of the fha loan), getting to know the tenants coming in to occupy other units and understanding exactly how it is to live in the property to be able to provide the best quality of life for the tenants.

Hey Nicolas,I've chosen apartments/condos over SFHs for the exact aforementioned reasons (protection against large expenses).
