My question is, should we buy high in a market like mine (Bend Or.) where we can get higher rent and gain good equity or buy in lower markets and get a couple homes 200k range with less rent/equity?

It would make the buyers happy and everyone would make some money.Its 40 acres in Terlingua Ranch (near big bend national park in TX) and we're asking $75k but it may sell somewhere between 50-70k.

South Bend has the biggest trauma center hospital in the area, as well as Notre Dame football games that are hugely popular, and a great downtown/college atmosphere.

We've looked at properties in Washington, Oregon, California, and Hawai'i (hot markets, I know, but this is where we are from and where our families are) and we've settled on central Oregon/Bend.
