When I was contemplating going back to school the head of the RE program at Ohio State basically told me that given my practicing knowledge and experience I could probably teach the program.Bottom line - if you're trying to break into the industry, establish your fundamental skill set and build a network then school is likely a solid choice - otherwise you can learn the same things from textbooks/public knowledge and applying that research to publicly listed information.Hope that helps and feel free to connect if you'd like to discuss this further

I'm contemplating paying off a some of this loan just so we don't get eaten alive by it, but I feel like my savings might be better spent investing in real estate.

Well, depending on the type of note they run from about three pages to about nine pages ;)The term of a note to a rehabber should be at 6 months, if it becomes necessary you can always extend the note.The term should be long enough for the work contemplated and a reasonable time to sell or refinance, 6 months is customary but it could be shorter too.Some backward planning, if the market drops in November, you need to have the property exposed on the market at least 60 days, meaning the first of September it should hit the market.
