Well her first bankruptcy was discharged December 28, 2015 and on January 5, 2016 she filed again.  

I have my reservations about whether this is even dischargeable in bankruptcy based on the facts presented.

Here is the Seattle definition: “Discrimination” means any conduct, whether by single act or as part of a practice, the effect of which is to adversely affect or differentiate between or among individuals or groups of individuals, because of race, color, creed, religion, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, gender identity, political ideology, honorably discharged veteran or military status, alternative source of income, participation in a Section 8 or other subsidy program, the presence of any disability, or the use of a service animal by a disabled person.

Does discharged mean the same thing as closed when it comes to a person filing bankruptcy?

(How the tenet gets that cash to you is their problem :).If your rent is not considered a debt, you could get away with it- but since you likely have a 1 year lease and the tenets owe that money to you according to the terms of the lease- you would probably be considered a creditor, and as such, required to accept cash to discharge the debt.

What they are not is a debt of the the owner(s) that may be discharged, despite BK being Federal codes.
