I just don’t agree they were sacrificing quality for occupancy.

If not and you're just playing with terms, my "hunch" is to agree with @Scott Jensen ... if you're very comfortable to put $15,000 into making this happen ($10k cash you need to bring to the table plus $5k closing costs) without sacrificing reserves etc, then perhaps just pay the $15k on the smaller loan. 

I thought I had my dream job when I worked for a professional baseball team, and I sacrificed a lot of time and lost income to reach that goal.

I'm wondering if anyone has sacrificed by moving out of a high cost of living area to a more affordable market to help boost their investing? 

I make it a point to wake up at 4am every day to give myself a solid 1-2 hours before anybody else is up to pursue these things without sacrificing time with my family. 

Often you will find these are inverse relationships and you are sacrificing one advantage for another.
