Real estate commissions have always been negotiable. 

The seller did not want to pay realtor commissions.  

Once the Booking.com commission was paid for each reservation, the net payout was usually slightly less than if the guest had booked through Airbnb or VRBO.

However, I shudder at the popular suggestion to sell some of your investments for tax purposes, often coming from commission-based brokers and financial advisors.

You can determine what a decent salary would be for someone in your market and then reverse-engineer to see if what you're paying as a salary, plus the projected performance commission, will get you there.

My guess is that the promotions feature will turn into a variable commission model in the future (20% Discount, Airbnb offers 10% to the customer and pockets the 10% in extra Commissions).

The best the state real estate commissions have come up with is (1) licensure needed to “wholesale” legally and (2) full disclosure of intent to the seller. 

Is there any team/commission agreement that you've signed with your broker to outline what the splits are in a situation like this?
