It appears the only way to make a househack work in Austin is to build an Accessory Dwelling Unit in the backyard.

You can potentially get a 2 family with a basement(accessory unit) stay in that and rent out the other 2.

Hi Bruce,  have you looked into whether the the non-conforming unit can become conforming as an 'accessory dwelling unit'?
