Still a good deal, but my question is, why would they ever rent something like that over another similar house that doesn't have someone living downstairs (again - it would be completely separated with separate entrances as well - we would never see each other, but still).

Looking at a 2 fam with RR apartments.Is it legal to just close up the doors that connect the rooms and put in new doors out to the hall so the rooms are no longer connected and each room has its own private entrance?

@Charles KaoThe building really doesn’t have room for expansion besides value add in raising the low rents, it also does not have a gate/security system which could easily be added (facility is surrounded by units so it only needs a main entrance gate).
