In my experience, section 8 didn't withhold money or hassle me... they just wanted broken things fixed. 

You get stuff like holes in the hallways, broken outside lights, damage to a common washer / dryer (if there is one), that no one will fess up to and will come out of your pocket.Don't be afraid to make low offers. 

Not requests for things they want, but a list of broken or damaged items that need repair or replacement.5.

This may all be too elementary, but just hoping to help if this isn't something that you've broken down yet! 

But I never allow a thing to be broken in my units.  

After many email and calls unresponded in the following 1.5 months, I found the house broken in, water tank and furnace stolen.
