Analytically it seems the better route to go is a 4-family as a first time home buyer wanting to house-hack.

I am highly analytical, action-oriented, & a fast learner.

Engineer by day.... and night, and pretty much every waking hour (BE & ME in MechEng), so analytics and spreadsheets are my bread and butter (as well as CAD, product development, and a slew of other things). 

I have been reading a ton of books, taken an excellent course on real estate investing at UNC Chapel Hill and been following the BP Podcast for some time.I expect to make my first investment in 2020 as I have managed to save up a bit of cash here while taking my masters degree in Business Analytics here in Barcelona, Spain.My plan has been to start investing after July 2020 as I expected to return to Denmark and thus be on ground making it easier to invest.

While the facts of the degree really don't transfer (I haven't thought about the G2 checkpoint in detail in years), studying the sciences teaches really strong analytical skills that you can put to use in sleuthing for deals and sussing out what are good deals vs wastes of resources.

Listen to it again analytically and you might change your mind if you pay close attention to all the details.

I am very analytically driven and detail oriented personally, and so I assume that everyone is, and speak from that perspective.
